VACANCY: Assistant Greengrocer (16 hours per week)

Our growing independent business is looking for an Assistant Greengrocer who is motivated by good food chat. If you like serving customers and are willing to help or advise people about fresh produce, we’d love to hear from you.

 

The Assistant Greengrocer will help to improve efficiency and sales in the shop and be responsible for serving customers, keeping displays stocked and ordering produce.

 

In return, we pay the Scottish Living Wage of £8.75 per hour and offer a good staff discount. We are looking for someone who can work 16 hours per week (9am until 5pm on a Monday and Tuesday) with occasional overtime and holiday cover opportunities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

• Serving customers including weighing, bagging goods and cash handling.

• Giving advice on how produce can be prepared and served.

• Merchandising and keeping the displays fully stocked.

• Overseeing deliveries.

• Organising storage of produce (requiring bending, lifting and carrying).

• Stocktaking and placing orders with suppliers.

• Cashing up at the end of day.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• 2+ years’ retail sales experience preferred.

• High-energy, friendly personality.

• Capable of interpreting customers’ words and introducing them to suitable produce.

• Basic cash handling skills.

• Reliable and willing to work unsupervised.
